This is what it looked like when I rescued it!
First, I sanded the chair down a bit.
I have used chalk paint for small projects and liked the way they turned out, so I read and watched several tutorials on using chalk paint for furniture. I decided to give it a try on this little chair. I started with a coat of chalk paint using just a normal paint brush. I ended up trying several brushes and a couple different thickness of paint. I must admit that I did not like the way the paint went on. You could see all the brush strokes. (Please, all of you out there who love chalk paint, don't hate me.) It wasn't the look I was going for. One really nice thing about chalk paint is that is sands off really easily!
After I sanded most of the chalk paint off, I used my handy air sprayer to spray the little chair. I like the smooth finish that an air sprayer gives!
I dabbed on a little tinted faux glaze (to make it, I just added some brown acrylic paint to clear glaze) to make it look a bit more antiqued.
After I apply the faux glaze, I wiped it off fairly quickly with a rag.
I think it looks so much better after the make over! What do you think?
