Winter Owl

So what do you decorate with after you take all the fun Christmas decorations down?

I have been trying to come up with something fun for winter.  How about a winter owl!

Owl Pallet

What you will need:
Wood Pallet / Reclaimed wood
Wood Glue
Owl Stencil
Paint
Hot Glue Gun
Rope or Jute

I have a tutorial HERE on how I used reclaimed wood to make the sign part of the project.

I used my cricut to cut an owl pattern, but a cricut is not required, any stencil will work for this.

Stick the stencil to the boards and paint in the owl.

Next, decide where you want your rope and hot blue it on.

Who doesn't like owls right?
Owls are awesome!

What are you making for your winter decor?

Snowflake Ornament

I have been wanting to do some inking for a project and I love all the snowflakes at Christmas time, so I decided to combine the two.

Domino ornament

What you will need:
Domino
Alcohol Ink
Alcohol Blending Solution
Blending Tool w/pad
Diamond Glaze or Resin
Stickers
Bail
E600

First take the blending tool with the pad and add a few drops of ink. (I used blue)

Add some blending solution.

Stamp the domino.  It makes this really cool splotchy look.  I also did this to the sides and back.  You can add how every many layers of ink you want.  It looks different every time you add more.

Next, add some dimensional snowflake stickers.

Then, add the diamond glaze or whatever type of resin you want.  If you get bubbles just gently pop them or scoot them over the edge.

When the glaze has dried, (I usually let is set overnight) use some E6000 to attach the bail to the back of the domino.

Lastly, add whatever ornament string you want!

Simple and fun!  Great addition to the tree.

Christmas Tins

Christmas is coming soon, and I have been trying to come up with a fun gift that the kids can give to their teachers.  I found these rather plain tins, that I decided to make them into Christmas tin!

Here is the tin before...

I spray painted some of the lids white and some red.

Cut some fun scrapbook paper to fin the top.

Next, I mod podged the scrapbook paper to the tin lids.

Here is the lid:

Next, I gathered some fun supplies to make the tags.

I put a fun sticker on a chalkboard tag...

and added some writing with a chalkboard marker.

Making marzipan (almond paste candy) is a fun family tradition that came from my husbands side. The kids have lots of fun making the fruits.

We are only about half way done making fruit, and we already have a pan and a half!

We put the marzipan fruits in candy wrappers and in the tins & there are ready to go!

Do you have any fun family treat traditions??

Christmas Chalkboard

Chalkboards are a favorite of mine - so I just had to make one for Christmas this year!

Deer Chalkboard

The first thing I did was paint the frame and cut some MDF chalkboard to put in the frame.  HERE is a tutorial on how I make my chalkboard frames.

Next, I designed the chalkboard art.

I have another tutorial on how I make my chalkboard art HERE if you are interested!

Tartlet Tin Ornaments

I have been making a few ornaments and decided I wanted to try and make a few out of tartlet tins.

Tartlet Tin Ornaments

With tartlet tins you can make them into anything you like.

Here is the tutorial on the painted snowflake ornament.

I started out with a regular tartlet tin that I decided to paint red!

I glued on a white snowflake that I picked up at the craft store.

I had my awesome hubby drill two small holes in the tin so I could thread some bakers twine thru.

I love the red & white together!

Deer Ornament

Seeing all the Christmas decoration out in the storse has given me the itch to make something fun for the Christmas tree.

When I was out at target I found some cool deer gift tags that I had to make into ornaments

Christmas Ornament

Here is what you will need:
Deer tags
Plaid paper
Wood tag
Modge Podge
Paint & brushes
Ribbon / string

I had my awesome hubby cut some thin wood tags using the gift tag as a pattern.  So the first thing to do was to paint the wood tag.

While the paint was drying I traced the tag onto some plaid paper.

Then I cut out the tag.

Next I brushed some modge podge onto the wood tag and attached the plaid paper.

Then I put on a bit of modge podge and attached the original tan part of the tag.

Lastly I tied on some bakers twine & jute!

I love how it turned out!

I also made an ornament using the original plaid paper.  It turned out nice too!

What ornaments are you making for Christmas?
