Christmas Chalkboard

Chalkboards are a favorite of mine - so I just had to make one for Christmas this year!

Deer Chalkboard

The first thing I did was paint the frame and cut some MDF chalkboard to put in the frame.  HERE is a tutorial on how I make my chalkboard frames.

Next, I designed the chalkboard art.

I have another tutorial on how I make my chalkboard art HERE if you are interested!

Tartlet Tin Ornaments

I have been making a few ornaments and decided I wanted to try and make a few out of tartlet tins.

Tartlet Tin Ornaments

With tartlet tins you can make them into anything you like.

Here is the tutorial on the painted snowflake ornament.

I started out with a regular tartlet tin that I decided to paint red!

I glued on a white snowflake that I picked up at the craft store.

I had my awesome hubby drill two small holes in the tin so I could thread some bakers twine thru.

I love the red & white together!

Deer Ornament

Seeing all the Christmas decoration out in the storse has given me the itch to make something fun for the Christmas tree.

When I was out at target I found some cool deer gift tags that I had to make into ornaments

Christmas Ornament

Here is what you will need:
Deer tags
Plaid paper
Wood tag
Modge Podge
Paint & brushes
Ribbon / string

I had my awesome hubby cut some thin wood tags using the gift tag as a pattern.  So the first thing to do was to paint the wood tag.

While the paint was drying I traced the tag onto some plaid paper.

Then I cut out the tag.

Next I brushed some modge podge onto the wood tag and attached the plaid paper.

Then I put on a bit of modge podge and attached the original tan part of the tag.

Lastly I tied on some bakers twine & jute!

I love how it turned out!

I also made an ornament using the original plaid paper.  It turned out nice too!

What ornaments are you making for Christmas?

Fall Cabinet Door

I have been itching to make something new for fall!

Fall Decor

First I sprayed the frame with brown spray paint

Then I sprayed the frame with orange spray paint

After the frame dried, I sanded it a bit.

I like to use a faux glaze that I have tinted with some brown acrylic paint.  I applied it in small areas at a time and wiped it off rather quickly with a rag so it doesn't give it a smeared look.

When the frame was dried, I nailed some upholstery tacks in the corners and a couple down the sides.

I then, strung some jute around the upholstery tacks.

I didn't happen to get a picture of the frame before I started adding the banner!

Here are the instructions for the banner.
I used a triangle pattern and cut some triangles is 2 different sizes in a scrapbook paper.  I cut the largest triangle in the burlap scrapbook paper, and the triangle that was a little smaller in the orange scrapbook paper.

I then, used double sided tape to attache some old book paper to regular printer paper, so I could run it through my printer.

I then printed the letters for FALL out on the book pages.

I then used the smallest triangle and cut out the letters.

I punched some leaves out of scrapbook paper and attached them with little clothes pins.

I glued some some string to some small pine cones I had collected and tied them on.

What did you make for fall?

Be Grateful

I bought a burlap leaf from the dollar store and I knew I wanted to upcycle and make something
with it.

I started out with an old cabinet door.

I sprayed it with orange spray paint.

When it was dry, I sanded and roughed it up a bit.

I like to use a faux glaze that I have tinted with some brown acrylic paint.  I applied it in small areas at a time and wiped it off rather quickly with a rag so it didn't give it a smeared look.

You can see where I added the faux glaze.  It darkens it and gives it an antiqued look.

This is the leaf that I bought at the dollar store.

I took off the cardboard part of the leaf and used it as a pattern to cut out some scrapbook paper.

Then I made a banner using some small bunting pieces and some glitter letters.

I used a large needle and threaded some jute through the bunting pieces.

I added some upholstery tacks to the cabinet door and used them to wind the jute around.

Here it is all assembled!
