Chicken, Duck or Bunny?

I really like the bunny jars that I made last year, so I wanted to try something a little different this time.  I found some chickens and ducks that I wanted to use on some jars, but I wanted to make them look like they were on a nest.  See what you think?

Chicken, Duck or Bunny?

I like the bunnies, but I am loving the duck and chicken!

What you will need:
Jar with a lid
Plastic chicken, duck or bunny
E6000 epoxy
Primer
Spray paint
Rubber bands
Frosted glass spray
Glass etching cream

First you will want to use your E6000 to glue your duck to the lid of the jar, so it will have time to set before you paint it.

Next, you will want to spray a couple of coats of primer on.  In my experience, you will use quite a bit more yellow paint and get frustrated at the coverage if you don't use primer first.

Now, you can paint it the pretty yellow color!

Now, lets work on the jars.  You will first want to put rubber bands around the jar in somewhat of a random order.  Use a popsicle stick (or something like it) to put the etching cream on the glass.  This was a real pain, trying to get the etching cream into all the corners where the rubber bands meet.

Follow the instructions on the can regarding how long to wait before rinsing the etching cream off.   Usually it's around 5 - 10 minutes.  Then rinse the etching cream off under a faucet.

Then I tried Plan B - Frosted glass spray.  Wow, this was so much easier, and it turned out just as nice as the etching cream.

I really like the bright yellow color.

I also made a set of more natural looking bunny jars, where only the lid is painted.  These are actually my favorite!

What animal would you choose?

Brilliant Brown Bunny

I just had to make a brown bunny this year!

Brilliant Brown Bunny

What you will need:
Solid colored felt or fabric - I chose brown felt
Patterned fabric
Bunny patterns - one for the the fabric and one pattern traced a little bigger for the felt.
Embellishments
Scissors
Hot Glue
Sewing Machine

First, you will need to trace and cut two smaller bunnies out of the fabric, and then cut two larger bunnies out of felt.

After you cut the bunnies, sew one of the fabric bunnies to one of the felt bunnies.  Repeat for the second set of bunnies.

Both sets of bunnies should look like this:

Next. you will sew both sets of bunnies together with the felt facing inward.  Leave an opening on the bottom of the bunny that is big enough to stuff it (about 2 inches).

Now stuff the bunny and sew the opening closed.

All that is left, is a little embellishment.  I found these cute nest charms that I wanted to add.

Who doesn't like a brown bunny!

I had to make one out of brown burlap also!

What color would you make your bunny?

Bleached Denim Bunny

I love the lace and denim that is out right now.  I have a stash of denim that I have been itching to use and I have been wanting to try bleaching denim, so why not try them both?

Bleached Denim Bunny

You will need:
Frame
Scrapbook paper - I liked the burlap paper
Denim
Lace
Clorox bleach pen
Stencil - I just cut a swirl pattern with my Cricut
Fray Check
Embellishments - rick rack, flower, button, & denim tag
Hot Glue
Bunny Pattern - (I downloaded one from the internet)
Scissors

First, you will need to trace the bunny pattern on the denim and cut it out.

Next, put the stencil over the denim bunny.

Next, trace the stencil with the bleach pen.  It will take a good 30 minutes before the pattern really shows up, so be patient.

If you don't want the denim to fray, you will need to go around the edges with Fray Check.
Next, cut the scrapbook paper and lace to fit your frame.

Now, we can assemble the embellishments.  I wanted a tag on my bunny, so I printed out Happy Easter on paper and glued it to a denim tag.

I added some vintage rick rack, a flower, and button also.

Finished!  I had to put one of the bunnies in my favorite Moroccan frame (that my awesome hubby cut for me!)

What would you do for a bleached denim project?

Burlap Bunny

Doesn't everyone need at least one burlap bunny for Easter?  I decided to do one for my photo stand, so I could change it with something else when Easter is over.

Burlap Bunny

Materials you will need:
Photo stand or frame
Poster Board or backing
Bunny Pattern - I just downloaded one
Burlap - I liked the pink.
Chipboard
Scrapbook paper - I used a script paper
Gift wrap or a natural colored scrapbook paper
Embellishments - lace, jute, lace...

First, you will need to trace your bunny pattern on the burlap and cut it out.

Next, cut out a piece of cardboard, or backing in an 8"x 10", or to the dimensions of your frame or photo stand, and cut out the wrapping paper to fit.

Then you will need to trace out the shape of your chipboard on your scrapbook paper and cut it out.

Now we can assemble it!
Hot glue or use double sided tape to attach the wrapping paper to the cardboard and the scrapbook paper to the chipboard.

Lastly, glue it together and add the embellishments.

Isn't that a cute bunny?

It would look great in an 8 x 10 frame also, I just couldn't find a cute empty frame!

St. Patrick's Day Chalkboard

St. Patrick's Day Chalkboard

I am really liking chalkboard art, it so individualized.  I decided to make one for St. Patrick's Day.  I wanted to do a tutorial on how to do chalkboard writing for those of us who don't have a gift for great free hand writing.
St. Patrick's Day Chalkboard
St. Patrick's Day Chalkboard
What you will need:

Chalkboard
Pattern
Transfer Paper
Stylus
Chalk marker
Chalk

First decide the position of your pattern.  Then place the transfer paper down with the chalk side of the transfer paper against the chalkboard and place your pattern on top.

Next, tape the transfer paper and the pattern down.

Then use your stylus to trace the pattern.

It will look like light chalkboard writing.

Next, you will need to go over your pattern with chalk or chalk pens.

I finished tracing the pattern, and decided I wanted the word "The" bigger.

All it takes to change words is a little water and a paper towel.  Easy!
